Palacios Scouts Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Friday and Saturday
May 1st and 2nd, 2020
Palacios Pavilion

Family fun, games, food, educational talks, music, La Petite Belle sailing ship, costumes, flags, storytelling, contests, Dead Bob's Tavern and more.

The Palacios Area Historical Association (PAHA) and the Palacios Scouts Pack 1441 and Troop 1441 have joined forces to provide our community with an action-packed family-friendly Day on the Bay.

This collaboration evolved in order to create a fun annual event utilizing the beautiful Palacios Coastal Pavilion and park for educational programs for young and old. What better way to tell of the rich multi-cultures that fought over Texas than to get folks out for a family day and make learning fun!

There will be lots of activity for lots of fun for all ages! This Day on the Bay event is planned for next Spring May 1-2, 2020 and will be FREE to enter. We will not only continue to celebrate the 5th Annual Palacios Scouts Cinco de Mayo, but also have the 5th annual gathering of Palacios Pirates. La Salle will land and dock La Petite Belle for another LaBelle Day.

Outdoor games and activities will be set up for all ages with live music including traditional Foco Aluguel Dancers. Little Mr. and Miss Cinco de Mayo will be crowned. We will have contests for best costumes, best decorated flag and best coloring book page design. Food and vendor booths will also be on the grounds. You have plenty of time to prepare and to choose your favorite lawn chair to bring along.

Speaking of costumes, are there characters out there who can tell facts about Texas history between 1500 and 1900? You may become a storyteller and share the facts of the connection between all the colorful characters who explored here. We need your help! Please join us in telling the stories of Texas history since 1500.

Help us share facts about the Native American Karankawa, French, Spanish and Mexican explorers who roamed Texas. If you are interested in this educational program, please come to the first workshop October 29, 2019 at the City by the Sea Museum (5:30-7:00) to gather facts for the May presentations. You have lots of time to get your costumes ready and become the character you want to tell about.

Sponsorship and Vendor invitations will go out soon, but don't wait. Volunteers Welcome! Please email museumpalacios@gmail.com to get involved and stay updated with preparations.
